Black Billed Gull , Tarapuka

FOR member Amber Calman is leading the pack in promoting the black billed gull for NZ Bird of the Year. These endangered gulls are often seen on the shore line at Lake Rotoiti. They also breed in some of the river beds in this area. So please get your votes in quickly - voting closes on 10 November.

Kaka

FOR members Wayne and Julie Sowman were invited to attend the release of 24 kaka at Bark Bay / Wairima in Abel Tasman National Park. Project Janszoon and the Department of Consevation were responsible for the project and some of the birds released were sourced from Nelson Lakes National Park. Have a look at the release here .
