Trapping Lines

Catches on all lines have been low over the last two months.

Drew has worked through the new health and safety plan for the Rainbow Road.

He has also negotiated more flexibility for those volunteering on this line. We can use our own vehicles which means the line can be cleared mid-week. This will also help with safety.

Great Spotted KIWI Project

Recently two FOR volunteers joined DOC staff for an after dark lakeside kiwi walk through survey.

The results from this survey are an important part of the ongoing project. GSK have large home ranges so we need to plan where more birds can be introduced plus ensure these areas have adequate predator control.

Loop The Lake

Butch spoke to competitors about the work of FOR volunteers. Three lucky competitors won vouchers to accompany us on trap clearing outings.

THANKS

Thank you to those who have made donations - much appreciated!

Dave Butler- in memory

I know that most of you won’t know Dave Butler but he was instrumental in setting up the Rotoiti Mainland Island in the late 90’s and later the Brook Sanctuary and has been a tireless advocate for wildlife sanctuaries and NZ’s biodiversity. Dave has died.

Thanks for your work Dave.
