10 June 1931 – 13 July 2022

Bernie, and Brenda his partner, have been well loved residents of St Arnaud, active and enthusiastic supporters of the “Friends of Rotoiti “.  Bernie and Brenda were very involved with the Wednesday village trapping group, both out in the field and in the workshop.

Bernie was forced to retire from active trapping when his legs finally gave up the struggle. We are very fortunate to have such a character filled group within the friends and Bernie was one who held a very special place in our hearts.

For a brief time, Bernie, you were one of ours and we will all miss you, your good humour, your tall tales, your dogged determination, your loyal presence, and friendship.

May your pack be light, the track easy, the hut warm and cosy, the fire right for cooking, the bunk comfortable and may the friends who meet you be the right sorts.
